Short-Dated & Clearance Pet Food FAQ

We specialise in clearance pet supplies, including short-dated and past-best-before pet food. Please read the individual listing and the manufacturer's packaging before buying or feeding.

What does short-dated or past-best-before mean?

Short-dated stock is approaching its stated best-before date. Past-best-before stock has already passed that date. As explained on our About Us page, the dates on this clearance stock are best-before dates, not sell-by or use-by dates. A best-before date is not, by itself, a guarantee that a particular product is suitable for your pet. Follow the manufacturer's guidance and ask them if you are unsure about using a product beyond its stated date.

Where can I check the date?

Check the product description and any date or batch information shown in the listing, then check the date printed on the pack when it arrives. Do not assume that a photo shows the date of every pack. If a date is missing, unclear or different from what you expected, contact us before ordering or feeding. We can help with questions about the stock available.

What condition should I expect?

Read the individual listing for any notes about packaging or condition. Clearance pricing does not mean you should ignore damage. On arrival, check the outer packaging, the food pack and its seals. Do not feed food from a pack that is open, leaking, swollen, contaminated or otherwise appears compromised. Contact us if you have concerns, even if the outer parcel looks undamaged.

How should I store food when it arrives?

Check the manufacturer's storage instructions straight away and follow them, including any instructions for refrigeration and use after opening. Keep the original label, date and batch details. Do not assume all foods have the same storage requirements or that opening a pack extends its stated date. If the food appears spoiled or storage conditions are uncertain, do not feed it while you seek advice.

Is clearance food suitable for every pet?

No. Check the species, life stage, ingredients, feeding instructions and whether the product is a complete food, complementary food or treat. A discount does not change those instructions. For pets with allergies, medical conditions or special dietary needs, ask your vet before changing food. For questions about a product's date, formulation or storage, ask the manufacturer. We do not guarantee suitability beyond the manufacturer's guidance.

What if my order arrives damaged, incorrect or unsuitable?

Do not feed an item you are concerned about. Email admin@petsupplyuk.com promptly with your order number, a description of the problem and, where possible, clear photos of the parcel, product, seals, date and batch code. Keep the packaging and remaining product where safe to do so while we review the issue. If you simply chose a food that does not meet your pet's needs, contact us before opening it to discuss the options. If your pet becomes unwell, seek veterinary advice.

How do returns work?

Please read our Refund Policy for the return process, conditions and exclusions. Contact admin@petsupplyuk.com before sending anything back so we can confirm the next steps and return details. Do not assume that every food or clearance purchase is eligible for a change-of-mind return. If an item arrives damaged, defective or incorrect, tell us about that issue so we can review it rather than treating it as a change-of-mind request.

Still unsure? Contact us before you order or feed the product.
